Rose of the Month: Playboy
Posted on Tuesday, August 01, 2006

This Rose of the Month entry was provided courtesy of Indianapolis Rose Society member Norma Bledsoe.

Playboy is a floribunda with clusters of large semi-double blooms sporting vivid splashes of orange, yellow and scarlet. These rich colors make Playboy a favorite with everyone.

Playboy is one of the first roses to bloom in my garden in spring and repeats fairly quickly. The blooms are long lasting making for a great cut rose. Other great features I admire about about Playboy is the very clean, glossy green foliage and strong disease resistance. Playboy likes full sunlight, needing a minimum of 6 hours a day for best results. I hard prune it in the spring to encourage large sprays. It has been hardy in my garden with normal zone 5 winter protection. Playboy is easy to grow and makes a wonderful addition to the garden.
