President's Message - June 2007
Posted on Saturday, June 02, 2007

By Barbara Stauch. This article is from the June 2007 issue of The Rosarian newsletter.

The next major event for our society will be the Rose Show June 9th at Garfield Park. All members really should attend. Try to bring some roses, but at least come to enjoy the display. Don't forget to invite your family, friends and neighbors. You can learn a lot at a show, and also get some good ideas.

If you are a novice exhibitor, you need to learn to "condition" your blooms. Don't hesitate to ask our experienced members for help if needed. There are several novice classes in the horticulture section, open only to exhibitors who have won less than five blue ribbons in other shows, so you may want to consider exhibiting in one of these.

There are no novice arrangement classes, but there will probably be some classes without entries. Don't forget. All arrangements need to be preregistered with Barbara Stauch at 304 Lakewood Court, Avon, IN 46123.

After watching the program about the Rose Parade floats, I was excited about watching our own pre-race parade. I enjoyed the parade, especially since the weather co-operated. The floats were beautiful and well done, but I didn't see a lot of flowers of any kind.

Please note: There will be no regular meeting in June. Our next meeting will be in July. We will meet at the Indianapolis Museum of Art to tour the Lily House and the Gardens. There will be a small charge for a box lunch. You will receive more precise information before the meeting. We will not have the garden tour and picnic list in the book.

Jim Schultz will soon be asking for volunteers for our State Fair booth.
